Amber, the main character is a mixture of beauty queen and revolutionary. After being told she was ugly through childhood, her self loathing became confused once she conquered the competitive world of fashion modeling. Being rejected by the same fashion industry that loved her just a few years earlier (she was in her late 20's), she returns to her small rural hometown. Suddenly the world ends, and Amber finds she has the charisma and strength to help rebuild her corner of the world in her own way.
