A Quiet Place in the Country (1968) A young artist escapes from the stress of the big city and rents a house in a secluded wooded area. Strange things happen in the house that begin to drive him mad. As in the novella on which the story is based (The Beckoning Fair One by George Oliver Onions according to the film's credits), the viewer is left to decide whether the solitude affected the man's mind, or if he was the victim of a possessive spirit or ghost said to inhabit the house.
